Online affiliate marketing can be defined in just one sentence - It is the sharing of income between merchants and salespeople on the internet. The income is divided on the basis of the performance of the salespeople. This is measured usually in the form of sales figures, number of clicks, subscriber or registration volume, or some hybrid model.

I would recommend strongly against using multiple affiliate networks. In days gone by, it may have been a viable strategy to use multiple affiliate networks to achieve scale, but that's no longer necessary today. Affliate networks like the Hydranetwork now have more than 7000+ publishers who reach millions of prospective customers each day -- this is broader reach than even many national cable networks. Aside from the administrative issues associated with tracking sales and avoiding duplicate payments by managing multiple networks -- you run the risk of diluting your relationships with affiliates. By concentrating your offers and providing some level of exclusivity to an affiliate network you build equity and receive the most favorable terms and placements possible. Do your research, choose an affiliate network with broad reach and strategic campaign insights and place your bets.
