I’ll admit it- I’m single. My friends and I have debated at great length the notion of taking our relationship aspirations to the web. But isn’t online dating creepy and weird? Well, maybe…but how is it any more creepy than meeting someone random at a bar? Regardless of your online dating opinions, from a business standpoint, we can at least all agree that these sites serve as an interesting, optimized e-commerce model!
I invite you to join me at the eRetailer Summit in Miami, March 1-3, to hear Greg Waldorf, CEO and founding investor of eHarmony.com, deliver the keynote address. Waldorf will share his extensive experience working with high-growth companies as an entrepreneur, investor and executive. Waldorf will speak on the growth of eHarmony, as well as the effectiveness of leveraging a multichannel marketing approach in growing a company, among others topics.
Furthering its theme of connecting you with the right people, the eRetailer Summit opens on Sunday, March 1, with the Solution Zone where ERA’s session speakers will make themselves available to answer attendee questions one-on-one. And in response to attendee requests for the maximum opportunity to network with peers, ERA is launching a three-hour Pool Party Extravaganza immediately following the Solution Zone from 3:00-6:00 p.m. The party will feature lively music, fabulous food and drinks, massage stations and henna tattoo artisans.
While I still have yet to actually take the plunge into online dating, perhaps Waldorf’s keynote address will change my opinion? I’ll keep you posted.
P.S. - Before booking your Miami travel plans, I suggest you check out this recent “Saturday Night Live” skit featuring travel expert Judy Grimes. Move over Tina Fey!
I’ll see you in Orlando, just kidding, Tampa, just kidding, Miami.

Using online services can help if you’re busy and dont have time to do the usual way of meeting people! I think everyone should try it just once!
Having read your post, I also wanted to say that as a divorced single guy, I think eHarmony should come up with some kind of lie detector test for the photos women post. Last woman I met looked like Don Rickles!
The girls in my office had the same exact conversation you just relayed – there is still a stigma, but you’re right - how is it any less creepy than meeting some one at a bar? (esp when most of us have been working too much to get to a bar). A couple of the girls did take the plunge and said what the hell…and are tying it out. It’s been amusing ;) There are certainly some people that are on there and you’d never date, but there were also some great catches that were just in the same boat as they were - too busy to date and annoyed with trying to meet someone Friday or Saturday night at thr local dive.

Well, I can comment about online dating and say that it can be very successful. A friend of mine used aol’s online dating/love connection site and corresponded via web cam for a few months with a girl in Columbia, S.A. He then flew down to meet her and her family in person and the sparks that seemed to be there online showed up in real life. They’ve been married now for almost 5 years and have two lovely daughters. She’s lovely - had been a tv show host in Cali - and is smart - graduated an attorney. So it can be done. Just be careful and take your time.
I think that it is a very interesting and amusing article. Practically all its main points are true.
Very true.Though online dating has brought many people together. You really have to think seriously about it before getting in too deep. Good luck!

This is a very interesting post; I can honestly say I learned a few things just by taking the time to look at what you have to offer here. Thank you for the information!
You should check out http://flauntparty.com. They’re having a Mansion Party in Miami in Sept. Think you may find it interesting
My keys aren’t punching in the letters at times. I know its internal because nothing was ever spilled on it and its a fairly new pc. Some one suggested to re-fix the key board pattern or reinstall the operating system but, how do I do this?

It is a good idea to use online dating service. I see nothing bad in it moreover I know a lot of people who found their happiness this way.
Hey, if it doesn’t help your personal life, maybe it will help you network. You never know who you’re going to meet.
I totally agree with those saying that online dating can be successful. You see, meeting the “one” is purely a trial and errror process, hit and miss, so no matter what method you choose, if it is meant to be, it is meant to be. :)
Great article! Thanks for sharing! :)
