“Susan Powter” - you couldn’t come up with anyone better? Susan Powter last I saw her she was covered with tatoos unrecognizable….needless to say her name should not be uttered in the same sentence with Billy Mays that is for sure!

No one in the world will ever replace Billy , not for his pitching ability but for the true talent he really was - bigger than life in heart and soul.

Another “celebrity” who was 50 just died. He had a lot going for him.

May Billy Mays rest in peace despite some of the negative things people say.

Jeff, I thought you acquitted yourself quite well, particularly given the difficulty of the situation and the line of some of the journalists’ questioning. It’s a testament to Billy’s impact on broader society that CNBC was interested in interviewing you. May we now turn our attention to collectively honoring him in a way that reflects the positive influence he brought to our industry.

“He who has a thing to sell and goes and whispers down a well-is not as apt to make the dollars as he who has a sign that hollers”-that was my dad’s motto. And a “business without a sign is a sign of no business”.
We make signs and commercial art.
So I appreciated Billy’s salesmanship. Nothing happens until something gets sold. He was loud and proud. He sold a ton of stuff, some of it good, some of it not. But he was a good salesman, in the old fashioned carnival barker style. Try that method selling high end merchandise and you’d be out the door on your ass. Try it on some people for even low end merchandise on a TV ad, a radio blurb, or a direct sell and you’ll find the same result- the MUTE button will kick in.
I feel for Billy’s family and friends and his fans, but personally I will not abide someone trying to sell me something if they are yelling and screaming at me. Frankly, in my opinion the originals-K-Tel and Popeil did a better job with a less bombastic approach. But I’m still sorry Billy died so young and feel sorry for all who loved him. I think he enjoyed a good life in the time he was here and that is the best any of us can expect and hope for ourselves. We are all one heart beat away from dying-and we don’t know how or when it will happen.
Oh well cheer up, we’ll all be dead soon !
And look at it this way- if you or I died tonite would Billy ,if he were alive give a damn?
    OF COURSE NOT !!!
